Look, everyone! Or rather, listen!!!

“What Was Lost”, episode 6 of Feedback: A Hero’s Calling.

Written and voiced in part by yours truly.

*fangirlscream*

…ahem. Excuse me. Anyway, please give it a listen. The whole thing’s amazing, but I understand that it might confuse anyone who hasn’t listened to the other episodes.

To that end, I’ve gone through and found where you need to fast-forward to if you want to hear the best parts (namely, me ^_~). Those are at 10:35 and 57:50.

Have an amazing winter vacation, everyone.

Posting Tutorial.

Qiuck question: In one of the past posts made by the wonderful Alee, it says at the bottom that we can also make posts as authors, not just contributors. So here’s the question: How do we make posts and not just comments? I’d really like to know! Thanks! ~kisses~

Very good question. And one you all need to hear the answer to, since we’d love to see your work up here one display (not hidden away with the comments)!

It’s actually pretty easy: There’s a blue bar up at the top of your screen when you look at the blog. One link on it will say New Post. Click that, type away, and hit the Publish button when you’re done. Voila!

Rainy Days and Wet Photos

Hurray for rain! Today’s activity, write a story about a photo. What is in it? Why is it there? Who might be involved? What feeling does it have? These lovely photos available to us via the Advanced Photography Class. Kudos. Oh and feel free to add on with your own story! Just click on edit and add your take on these pics!

VibrantI’m standing here, brown grass beneath my feet, staring across this dark wood barrier that reaches my knees. I see bright and healthy green grass that is still sparkling from morning dew. Past the grass I see a dark forest where animals scurry across the foresty forest floor. The trees are tall and alive, slants of sunlight fall in beams through the branches. I guess I kind of understand that cliche saying “the grass is always greener on the other side” now. I want to cross the wall of wood but I hear a voice of a friend. I’m turning around before my mind tells me to ignore it and I’m leaving that place of intriguing tranquility.

GoneI don’t know her name and I don’t know where she came from, but she’s sitting here against the wall and I wonder who she is. She raises her head, keeps her knees to her chest, and smiles at me. The gesture reaches her dark eyes and her dark hair is framing her face prettily. Her tank top is white and she is wearing a bracelet.I smile back, confused yet complacent with her kindness. I open my mouth to ask who she is but the bell rings and I look down the hall. Students pour out of the classroom doors and I look back down at her.She is gone.

Different

I didn’t know what it was. It looked like a metal bird of different colors, the hues of blue, gold and green. It is coiled like a spring where the torso would be and it is wrapped around a gold ball – which reminded me of when the princess had to kiss the frog. The beak is orange, the eye looked like a big, green button.
There is blue, bright yet dark, circular yet I don’t know what it’d be. I see wings where a tail would be, a rusty gold connected to another ball, green with a reflection of trees behind me.

The Thanksgiving Post

What with all the cooking and the eating and all that good stuff tomorrow, I don’t think I’ll be able to get anywhere near the computer, so I thought I should say this now.

I just wanted everyone to know how thankful I am for this amazing group. Fridays are always that much more enjoyable for me because I know I’ll get half an hour to hang out with a group of gals who not only share my passion for writing, but are a good deal of fun all around and always cheer me up.

The happiest of Thanksgivings to all of you; enjoy your break and don’t eat so much that you pull a One Thin Mint at the dinner table. After all, I expect to see you all next Friday. ^_~

Happy Halloween, everyone!

(Yes, this post is a day late. No, we don’t care.)

As a special treat, we are proud to present a piece by author P.S. Gifford. This is a chilling tale of one aspiring writer’s rise to fame, and it is not for the faint of heart. Listen at your own risk.

Poki’s (Almost) Last Day

Alas, it is the story of Poki the silver iPod and the true bond between (wo)man and machine.

***

“Please, don’t jump! You mean far too much to me, without you I am nothing.” I pleaded to my strikingly silver iPod from the base of the Empire State building. Poki has no idea, she means the world to me; without her, Life will cease to have its soundtrack. The sun was blazing on my back and my neck had begun to ache, I fear that I will fall over from exhaustion. I will not give up. Not for the Sun, not for my neck, not until Poki comes to her senses and gets her butt back down here.
She started to inch closer to the edge “STOP! Please do not do this to yourself, or to me! Suicide is the most selfish thing anyone can do!” Tears welded up in my eyes “I remember the moment I opened you and excitedly ripped you from your plastic case…back then, your 4 gigs of memory were empty; you knew nothing. And now you and I have filled some of that memory. Together. But there still is room. Poki, please don’t jump…I….I…..I love you. You are my reason to get up every morning.” I smile lightly “I’ll wake you up and plug your bud into my ear and your beautiful music fills the world. Without that, I have nothing to live for. Please, I beg of you, come down and we can make more beautiful music together. Forever.”
Poki glanced down at me and I could see the slight glint of a tear staining her perfect glass screen. She finally turned and ran for the elevator, in a moments time, we were reunited again, never to be separated again.

~Note from your Friendly Neighborhood Admins: Guys, feel free to publish stories in your own posts. That’s why we made you authors, not just contributors. ~

NaNoWriMo, anyone?

All right, ladies and gentlemen.

Oh, who am I kidding? I know I’m just addressing a bunch of girls.

Anyway, October’s just barrelling along, and before we know it, it’s going to be November. You know what that means: Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, and (for us authoresses) National Novel Writing Month!

I’m sure some people are staring at me in utter confusion right now, so I’ll let an excerpt from the site do the talking…

What: Writing one 50,000-word novel from scratch in a month’s time.

Who: You! We can’t do this unless we have some other people trying it as well. Let’s write laughably awful yet lengthy prose together.

Why: The reasons are endless! To actively participate in one of our era’s most enchanting art forms! To write without having to obsess over quality. To be able to make obscure references to passages from our novels at parties. To be able to mock real novelists who dawdle on and on, taking far longer than 30 days to produce their work.

When: Sign-ups begin October 1, 2007. Writing begins November 1. To be added to the official list of winners, you must reach the 50,000-word mark by November 30 at midnight. Once your novel has been verified by our web-based team of robotic word counters, the partying begins.”

This is going to be my third crack at the big 50k, and I’m determined to make it this year. Who’s with me?

Anyone?

…oh, come on.

–Alee

P.S. A very, very wonderful man by the name of Paul Mannering just sent me a copy of a guide called “BAM (Book a Month)”. I need all the help I can get, so if I actually had the time or money for an impromptu trip to New Zealand, I’d track him down and hug him. Anywho, if anyone would like a copy, just say so and I’ll forward it to you (it’s in PDF format).
